Why you should consider an Executive Functioning Coach for your child this school year

At Tutor Corps, our Executive Functioning Coaches are specially trained to support students with executive functioning best practices and are also certified to support students with growing their digital literacy skills. We offer 4-session and 8-session minicourses that are great for helping your child start the academic year with a strong foundation, as well as year-long executive functioning coaching.

Executive Functioning Coaches support students with a blend of homework help and enrichment to prepare students to succeed with study skills tools. Executive Functioning Coaches don’t necessarily support students with the academic content of their homework or test preparation. Instead, they focus on supporting students with the initiation and implementation of systems to keep the student organized and accountable, turning in assignments on time and preparing for tests according to how much time they’ll need to properly learn the required material.

At Tutor Corps, our Executive Functioning Coaches are specially trained to support students with executive functioning best practices and are also certified to support students with growing their digital literacy skills. We offer 4-session and 8-session minicourses that are great for helping your child start the academic year with a strong foundation. We also offer year-long executive functioning coaching. This year-long support has been proven as the most effective way to promote organization, time management, and academic growth. Additionally, students find a supportive mentor through their Executive Functioning Coach and create targeted learning plans to monitor growth and progress.

Our 1:1 approach is customized to support each individual student’s needs, but curriculum will likely include:

  • Organizational structures support (organizing physical study space/tools, online study space/tools, setting up student planner and applicable ed tech support)

  • Study tools (retrieval practice ideas, note-taking, test-taking skill building, active reading techniques)

  • Improving study habits (spaced practice, planner, etc.)

  • Accountability and motivational support

“My student already followed an organizational system in Google Drive that included using a lot of subfolders. After participating in this course, he said learning about color coding folders was extremely helpful! We ensured that he had a good physical space to work on things, and decided on using a physical planner for time management. We use a timer as a self-check to ensure the planner is done each day, and that their homework is started. It has been very useful to incorporate goal sheets to track student growth! We saw immense growth after just four sessions.”
