Top 3 Organizational Tips for Fall Semester

If you are reading this and thinking ahead to fall semester, then that likely means that our all too short summer is coming to a close. You are likely in planning mode and getting ready for another school year to start. We believe that preparation is a key component of success. To help you prepare for fall semester, here are our top 3 organizational tips:

1. Use a planner or calendar to organize your activities and events.

This can be a physical or digital planner, whatever format is most likely for you to use and reference! Using a planner will help you to map out commitments and prioritize where your time will be spent. Color coding calendars/planners is a great way to make it more effective for visual learners (it is also a fun way to get younger kiddos excited about their piece of the family puzzle!)

2. Set goals and expectations for yourself, then write them down!

This simple practice will help you to have a clear vision for the semester ahead. Do you want to have projects turned in a day before the due date? Would you like to start studying the week before a big test, rather than your usual night before? Wherever your goals are, write them down so you can reference them easily throughout the semester.

3. Focus on one task at a time.

If you have a daunting to do list and are feeling overwhelmed, the best thing you can do is focus on one thing at a time. It can also be helpful to break down large tasks into smaller more manageable action items.

Keep these tips in mind as you gear up for another academic year. If it feels too daunting to fully commit to an organization plan, reach out!  We would be happy to chat with you about our executive functioning and study skills courses and help provide your child with the keys to success.
