2011 Teacher of the Year Award Winner: Christine Mytko!

Christine Mytko teaches Upper School Science and technology at Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley, California. She holds a B.S. in the Teaching of Biology from the University of Illinois, and a M.S. in Advanced Education with a focus on Science and Technology from Northwestern University. Christine taught science in public high school and middle school for many years in Illinois, where she was affectionately known as the resident tech “geek.”

Among Christine's many achievements include winning the San Francisco Exploratorium Iron Science Teacher competition twice: once for “Triangles” and once on Educator's Night with “Chalk”. (Check out her video)

When Christine was asked about plans to use the gift, she replied: “The award is so timely. I had arranged with Brook Drumm to come to school and set up a 3D printer for us. He is selling us his new design at cost, which was coming out-of-pocket for me. But, now I am using the award money to buy it - THANK YOU!” Check out the futuristic 3D printer here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/printrbot/printrbot-your-first-3d-printer

Congratulations, Christine!
