Tutor Corps Foundation
Tutor Corps strives to inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities. To advance this goal, we have established Tutor Corps Foundation. The Foundation matches dedicated tutors with middle and high school students in under-served communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our founding board members, Jesse and Noel Rosencranz-Engelmann, recognized the opportunity for additional educational services to meet the needs of under-resourced students throughout our community. What began as a volunteer program has become a non-profit organization that provides one-on-one and small group tutoring as well as community service grants and tutoring scholarships for young women in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To donate to the Foundation or for more information, contact us at (415) 990-1322; email grants@tutorcorpsfoundation.org; or visit the Foundation website.
Spotlight on Past Winners - Spring 2010
Jadyn Petterson-Rae of Drew School was awarded the Spring 2010 Susan Lindquist scholarship for her program S.C.Y (Pronounced sky) – Stories Connecting Youth. The program creates audio recordings of books and sends them to young people in under privileged communities such as Haiti, Ciudad Juarez (Mexico), South Africa and East Palo Alto. S.C.Y seeks to promote literacy while simultaneously giving children a sense of connection knowing other kids are reading and listening to the same stories across the world.
