Robbie Engelmann Memorial Scholarships

In honor of Robbie Engelmann, a beloved mother, gifted therapist, teacher, and advocate of the underserved, the Tutor Corps Foundation awards scholarships to provide a year of complimentary tutoring for lower income young women.

Robbie cared deeply about creating opportunities for young women. The Robbie Engelmann Memorial Scholarship funds one-on-one tutoring for five students for the academic year. The scholarship recipients will meet once a week with a tutor to receive consistent academic support along with mentoring to build confidence and self-esteem.

Applicants must be female students, live in the Bay Area or Los Angeles, be in 5th through 12th grade, demonstrate a financial need for tutoring and be recommended by a teacher and parent. Applications are due every June 1st.

Susan Lindquist Community Service Grants

Interested in working on a project that addresses community-based issues such as poverty, education, health and the environment? In honor of Susan Lindquist, a beloved family member, gifted teacher and philanthropist, Tutor Corps Foundation awards community service grants semi-annually to support innovative student projects that make a sustainable impact in the community.

  • Students must live in the Bay Area or Los Angeles, attend school full-time, be between grades 6-11, maintain a 3.0 grade point average and have faculty sponsorship.
  • Deadlines for Applications are every October 1, December 1, and April 1st -- Deadline extended to April 7th, 2017.

Teacher of the Year Award

Tutor Corps recognizes the finest educators in the Bay Area and Los Angeles with the Teacher of the Year Award! The ideal candidate for the Teacher of the Year Award should exhibit a combination of passion and innovation, and an overall commitment to challenging students to excel. The candidate should also have a background demonstrating a dedication to education and academic excellence. The winner will be awarded $1,000. Nominate your favorite teacher today!

Criteria:

  • Teachers need to have taught in the classroom for at least two years
  • Teachers must be nominated by at least one person (a current or former student, a parent, or a co-worker).
  • In addition to completing the online nomination form below, nominations can be supported in any of the following ways: support letter, email, videotape, pictures – the important thing is to show the teacher’s impact. Please send any additional information you wish to include to award@tutorcorps.com
  • Teachers must teach in a school in the San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles.
  • Fall deadline is every December 1st.
  • Spring deadline is every May 1st.
