  2. Do you tutor college/adult students?

  3. Where do you tutor?
    We tutor in counties throughout the Bay Area including San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara. Our tutors make it easy to schedule sessions. They will come to your home, school or other location of your choosing. Tutoring sessions occur at times that work with your schedule.
  4. How long is a tutoring session?
    One session is 55 minutes. A session may be extended at the parent’s or student’s request (tutor's schedule permitting).
  5. How many sessions does my child need to improve his/her grade?
    We treat each student as a unique individual. We can recommend the number of sessions once we have assessed your child’s strengths, areas of improvement and academic goals.

  7. What are your session rates?
    • Subject Specific: $110
    • Standardized Test Prep: $120
    • College-level/Adult: $140

    Session rates include basic preparation, travel time, telephone/email communication with parents and teachers and monthly progress updates.

  8. Do you offer tutoring in small groups?

    Yes we do. Please call us at (415) 990-1322, ext. 1 to discuss options.
  11. What is your cancellation policy?
    We recognize that sickness, family events or other unexpected occurrences may arise which make it difficult to keep your reserved time slot. With advance notice we are happy to reschedule tutoring at no additional cost. However, since it is nearly impossible to fill a tutoring session without advance warning, we do require 48 hours notice for cancellations or we will charge for the cancelled session. If you need to cancel a session, please contact your tutor. If you have misplaced your tutor’s contact information, please call (415) 990-1322, ext. 1.

  13. What is your tutor hiring and background check policy?
    Our hiring process is extremely rigorous. We require all of our tutors to have strong academic backgrounds, subject mastery, teaching experience and the ability to connect with students, parents and teachers. Our high standards account for a selective 2% hiring rate of the total number of applicants.  We conduct multiple rounds of interviews including mock tutoring sessions, fingerprinting and reference checks.  Only after a complete vetting process and training are they invited to join the Tutor Corps team.   14. My child’s subject needs are changing…do I keep the same tutor?
    If the tutor has the subject proficiency and schedule availability, we encourage the relationship to continue. If this is not the case, we will introduce you to another tutor.

  16. I lost my invoice, how do I know how much I owe?
    Please contact the Billing Manager at (415) 990-1322, ext. 3 or email billing@tutorcorps.com. She will be more than happy to tell you your amount over the phone and/or resend your invoice.
  17. I cannot seem to find the monthly update, how do I get it resent to me?
    Please call us at (415) 990-1322, ext. 1 or email info@tutorcorps.com.  We will be more than happy to speak to you regarding your child’s progress or resend your update.
  18. How do I apply for a Tutor Corps Foundation scholarship?
    The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one and small group tutoring, scholarships to student projects that proactively address community-wide issues, and training programs that provide educational expertise to other nonprofits. For more information, click here.
